Don Rizzo, President & founder of Sun Mortgage Company, Inc. since 1996, has been in the mortgage industry serving the communities of NY, NJ and CT, since 1987. Don started Sun Mortgage Company with the goal of providing home buyers with the best possible mortgage experience based on service, representation, education and sound financial advice. Don enjoys helping and working with people, whether they are new home buyers, investors, or owners looking to refinance. An expert at reviewing financial documentation including income, assets and credit reports, Don has the financial wherewithal to assist his clients by guiding them through the vast array of available loan products and programs. Don makes it his priority to get great loan terms in the most efficient way possible, while always being available and making sure closings happen on time. It’s due to these qualities that Don has been awarded many industry accolades including his recent designation of being in the top 1% of loan originators nationally for the largest wholesale lender in the country.

Don is a 1987 graduate of SUNY Oswego with a bachelors in Applied Mathematical Economics and minors in both Computer Science and Psychology. Don has been a member of the Peekskill Rotary Club since 2008, actively participating in the annual Horse Show raising money for local charities & scholarships and was elected to preside over the clubs celebratory 100th year in 2019. He’s been a supporter of local athletics via coaching and sponsoring of local basketball, soccer, baseball and lacrosse teams. Don is a longtime blood donor since 1995. As of 2018, he has made over 100 donations giving nearly fifteen gallons of blood, platelets and plasma. Don and his wife Diane met at SUNY Oswego and will be married thirty years as of June 2020, they have three children and reside in Cortlandt Manor, NY. In his free time Don enjoys photography, fishing and has been active in sports throughout most of his life competing as a swimmer in high school, college and as a masters athlete where he competed at the national level placing in the top ten numerous times as well as two gold medals in swimming from the Empire State Games.
